The Sonic Resonator emits a pulse that highlights hidden resources, fragments, and points of interest within a 100m radius. Those outcrops you swam past? The fragment hidden behind a rock wall? The resource buried in sand? The Resonator reveals them all.
Subnautica 2's ocean is designed to hide things. The Resonator is your answer to 'I know there's something here but I can't find it.' It turns blind searching into targeted gathering, cutting exploration time by half.

4 Optimal Collection Route
Follow this order to minimize backtracking and maximize efficiency.
① Scan Fragments
Both in accessible wrecks — Kelp Forest (~70m) and Grassy Plateaus (~100m). Use Seaglide if you don't have Tadpole yet.
② Get Magnetite
The bottleneck. Best early source: Lava Geysers at Safe Shallows/Kelp edges (~150m). Use Seaglide + extra O2 tanks. Park Tadpole at safe distance from heat.
③ Craft
All materials at Fabricator → Equip in tool slot

5 ⚠ Gotcha Tips — Don't Waste Your Time
Read this BEFORE you start.
Everything cool in Subnautica 2 needs Magnetite, and early-game Magnetite sources are limited. Lava Geysers are your best bet before Depth Module MK1.
The Resonator only pings within 100m. Don't expect it to reveal things across the biome. Use it methodically in areas where you suspect hidden items.

While getting Magnetite: Thermal Vents (for future reactor plans), unique flora scans, and sometimes small wreckage with supplies.
While getting fragments: Data logs, supply crates, and often a Seaglide Fragment if you haven't found one yet.
