The Habitat Builder is the tool that turns the alien ocean into your domain. It lets you construct underwater bases — rooms, corridors, observatories, moonpools, fabricators, and more. A well-placed base is your safe harbor, storage hub, crafting center, and vehicle dock all in one.
Swimming back to your Lifepod every time you need to craft or sleep wastes enormous amounts of time. A strategically placed base near key biomes eliminates travel time, provides unlimited oxygen, and gives you a true sense of progression. This is the tool that transforms you from a survivor into a settler.

4 Optimal Collection Route
Follow this order to minimize backtracking and maximize efficiency.
① Scan 3 Fragments
Fragment 1: Safe Shallows wreck (~30m) — easiest, often one of the first things you find
Fragment 2: Kelp Forest wreck (~50m) — while getting Creepvine Seeds
Fragment 3: Grassy Plateaus (~100m) — deepest, use Seaglide or Tadpole
② Gather Complex Materials
Lubricant — Creepvine Seed Cluster from Kelp Forest
Silver Ore — Sandstone Outcrops in Kelp Forest caves (~30% rate)
Table Coral Sample — Harvest flat table corals in Safe Shallows (easy to miss if you don't know what they look like)
Gold — Sandstone Outcrops (~25% rate)

5 ⚠ Gotcha Tips — Don't Waste Your Time
Read this BEFORE you start.
Table Coral looks like flat, round purple/green plates on reef walls. It's NOT the tall tube coral or brain coral. Look for flat table-like structures on Safe Shallows reefs.
Silver only comes from Sandstone Outcrops at ~30% rate. You need 2 Silver Ore for the Wiring Kit. Kelp Forest caves have the best Sandstone density — bring extra O2.
Don't build your first base in Safe Shallows — too shallow, limited resources. Grassy Plateaus (~100m) is ideal: central location, access to multiple biomes, thermal vents nearby for power.
6 🎁 Free Benefits — Loot Along the Way
Don't leave empty-handed.
While getting Fragment 1: Starting supplies, data logs, often unlocked storage with free batteries/food. Plus easy Table Coral samples on nearby reefs.
While getting Fragment 2 + Lubricant: Collect Metal Salvage (4x Titanium when recycled), Stalker Teeth (for Enamelled Glass later), and scan unique flora/fauna.
While getting Fragment 3: Ideal base location — central, safe, great views. Also has Shale Outcrops (Gold, Lithium) and access to Jellyshroom Caves entrance.
While hunting Silver Ore: Find Gold (same outcrops), Lead (for Radiation Suit), and unique cave creatures to scan for PDA.
