1 Why Depth Module MK1 Opens New Worlds

Depth Module MK1

★★★★☆ — Dive Deeper (300m)
Mid Game

The Depth Module MK1 upgrades your Tadpole from 200m to 300m depth capability. That extra 100 meters isn't just a number — it's the difference between seeing the ocean floor and discovering entirely new biomes, wrecks, and resources that are completely inaccessible without this upgrade.

★ What This Means for You

At 300m, you gain access to the Deep Reef, Jellyshroom Caves, and several high-value wreck sites. These areas contain fragments for advanced vehicles, rare materials like Magnetite and Rubies, and story-critical data logs. Without this module, you're locked out of half the game.

4 Optimal Collection Route

Follow this order to minimize backtracking and maximize efficiency.

① Scan Fragments (200m+ zone)

Fragment 1: Grassy Plateaus wreck (~120m) — accessible with base Tadpole, look for the orange glow of the fragment
Fragment 2: Sparse Reef (~200m) — right at your Tadpole's limit, plan your route carefully

② Find Rubies

Rubies are found in Blood Kelp Zone (~200-300m) and Jellyshroom Caves (~250m). Problem: These areas are at or beyond your Tadpole's 200m limit without the upgrade! Solution: Use Seaglide + High Capacity Air Tank to reach Ruby outcrops at exactly 200m edge, or look for Ruby outcrops on elevated terrain in Blood Kelp.

③ Craft and Install

Build Vehicle Modification Station at your base → Craft Depth Module MK1 → Install on Tadpole
DEPTH LIMIT: 300M

5 ⚠ Gotcha Tips — Don't Waste Your Time

Read this BEFORE you start.

⚠ Catch-22: Rubies are mostly BELOW 200m

This is the hardest part. Most Ruby deposits are at 220-280m — past your Tadpole's limit. Look for Ruby outcrops on elevated terrain in Blood Kelp Zone (some sit at exactly 195-200m). Alternatively, use Seaglide + extra O2 tanks for a deep dive.

⚠ Blood Kelp has aggressive fauna

Blood Kelp Zone is home to Crabsquids (EMP attack disables vehicles) and Ampeels (electric defense). Approach slowly, stay near the seafloor, and retreat if EMP'd.

⚠ You need Vehicle Modification Station first

The Mod Station requires its own fragments (found in Safe Shallows/Kelp Forest wrecks at ~50-100m). Build this BEFORE hunting Depth Module fragments.

6 🎁 Free Benefits — Loot Along the Way

Don't leave empty-handed.

🎁 Grassy Plateaus wreck

While scanning the fragment: The wreck contains data logs, supply crates, and often unlocked lockers with free batteries/food.

🎁 Blood Kelp Zone exploration

While hunting Rubies: Blood Kelp is the only source of Blood Oil (for Benzene → advanced materials). Collect it — you'll need it later for Plastic and Synthetic Fibers.

🎁 Jellyshroom Caves

If you explore to 250m: Jellyshrooms have Magnetite deposits on their stalks (for Advanced Wiring Kit), and the caves contain unique fauna scans and precursor tech.
